Welcome to the Waste Management and Circular Economy Policy Support System (WMPSS), a platform developed by the United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD). Our mission is to bridge data gaps, enhance technical capacity, and facilitate evidence-based policymaking in solid waste management across developing countries.

As urbanization accelerates and consumption patterns evolve, the challenge of managing solid waste has become increasingly complex. The WMPSS is designed to address this challenge head-on, providing a comprehensive toolkit for policymakers and sustainable development practitioners.

Our platform addresses the entire life cycle of waste management, aligning with critical SDG targets (11.6, 12.3, 12.4, 12.5, and 14.1) and promoting an enabling policy environment. The life cycle of waste management consists of:

• Collection and Transport: Efficient systems for waste gathering and movement
• Sorting: Technologies and methods for effective waste classification
